Set up Shipping Costs (beta)

Updated over a week ago

We’ve launched a new Shipping Costs (Beta) to help you track profit more accurately, especially if your shipping fees change by product, quantity, weight, or destination.

Please note that this feature is currently in beta and is only available to selected new users as part of an A/B test.

Mini Onboarding

Mini onboarding helps you set up shipping costs quickly for accurate profit tracking. You’ll answer a few questions about how your supplier charges shipping. We apply your answers across your store as the starting setup, and you can change everything later.

Questions you’ll answer

  1. How does your supplier charge shipping?

    • Per item (quantity-based) or by weight (weight-based)

  2. Do some products share the same shipping cost?

    • If yes, select which products share the same cost

  3. Where do you ship to?

    • Worldwide or specific regions

  4. Set an initial shipping cost for new products

    • This initial cost is set by item or by weight (based on what you chose in step 1)

    • You can set specific costs per product later

Main view of shipping cost

The main view helps you see both the overall and detailed shipping costs for each product and variant.

How the columns work

  • Default (Worldwide) column = the initial shipping cost you set during mini onboarding.

  • Default = Worldwide:
If you don’t add any specific countries/regions, all countries use the Default (Worldwide) value.

  • If you add specific shipping zones (countries/regions) with different costs:

    • Those zones appear as new columns

    • Any country not included in a custom zone will use Default (Worldwide) (the rest of the world)

How to edit values

  • To edit a shipping cost for a product or variant: hover on the value → click → edit

  • To edit a shipping zone name: hover on the zone name (column header) and edit the shipping zone

  • And you can edit the value shipping cost of each product and variant, just hover and click to start editing

Viewing more zones

  • If you have many zone columns, drag left/right to view more columns.

Settings

  1. Calculation method

  • Quantity-based (Per item)

Use this if your supplier charges shipping by the number of items.

Example supplier table:

Quantity

US

1 pcs

$10

2 pcs

$15

3 pcs

$20

You will enter it exactly the same way (shipping cost by quantity):

Quantity

Total cost

1 unit

USD 5

2 units

USD 15

3 units

USD 20

  • Weight-based

Use this if your supplier charges shipping based on product weight.

    Example supplier table:

Weight range (lb)

Cost

0.83 kg

$13.5

0.94 kg

$14.9

You will enter the shipping cost by weight range:

  • Important note
Changing the calculation method will reset existing shipping costs to 0 for all products and orders, and all existing data will be lost.
After switching, your shipping costs for all products & orders will follow the new method.

2. Initial shipping cost

This sets the initial shipping cost for newly created products, to avoid new products having shipping cost = 0.

Note

  • New products will use the new initial shipping cost after you update it here.

  • Existing products keep their current shipping cost.

  • If you want to change shipping cost for existing products, update them in the main view (not here).

3. Custom shipping zones

In the main view:

  • Default means worldwide shipping (all countries).

  • If no custom shipping zones are added, all countries use Default (Worldwide).

If you add custom shipping zones with different shipping costs (example: France in Europe, and Singapore):

  • Those zones use the specific values you set

  • The rest of the world uses Default (Worldwide)

Notes

  • When you add a new shipping zone here, it will appear in the main view as a column.

  • When you delete a shipping zone here, it will be removed from the main view.

How to add a custom shipping zone (in Settings)

  1. Click Add shipping zone

  2. Name the zone

  3. Click > to expand the region and select specific countries

  4. Click Save

After making changes in Settings, click Save to apply them.

Create product group

Product groups help you group products that share the same shipping costs.

How to create a product group

Step 1: Click Create product group (top right).
Step 2: Name the group.
Step 3: Add the products that share the same shipping cost.
Step 4: Add the shipping cost for each shipping zone.

How shipping zones work inside a product group

  • Default = Worldwide (all countries).
If you don’t add any specific countries/regions, all countries will use the Default shipping cost.

  • If you add a specific country/region with a different shipping cost:

    • That country/region uses the value you set

    • All other countries use the Default value

Notes

  • To change the calculation method (by weight or by quantity), you must update it in the Settings section (not inside product groups).

  • Add a new shipping zone if needed (so you can set different costs by region).

  1. Click the 3 dots menu

  2. Select Edit product group

What you can do here
