FAQ: TrueProfit billing & subscription: how it works

How TrueProfit billing works: free trial, charges, uninstalling & refunds

TrueProfit doesn't bill you directly. All charges are created and collected by Shopify through its official app-billing system, so your TrueProfit charges appear on your regular Shopify invoice and follow Shopify's app-charge rules.

Does TrueProfit offer a free trial?

Yes. Every plan includes a 14-day free trial. You won't be charged anything during the trial, so you can explore TrueProfit fully before any payment.

When does TrueProfit start charging me?

Billing begins on the first day after your 14-day trial ends. For example, if you install on May 12, your trial runs through May 25, and your first charge is generated on May 26.

How often am I billed, and when does each charge happen?

TrueProfit uses a recurring 30-day billing cycle. App charges are generated at the start of each 30-day cycle and then added to your next Shopify invoice. As Shopify explains: "Charges for recurring app fees start when you first approve the app and occur again at the start of each billing period."

For example, a charge generated on May 26 covers the cycle May 26 – June 25, the next one covers June 26 – July 25, and so on.

What happens when I uninstall TrueProfit?

Uninstalling stops all future billing cycles immediately. You won't be charged for any cycle that hasn't started yet.

I cancelled my plan inside the app. Why am I still being billed?

Cancelling or downgrading inside TrueProfit does not uninstall the app from your store, and on its own it does not stop Shopify billing. As Shopify notes: "Canceling your subscription within an app… doesn't uninstall the app from your Shopify store. To stop Shopify billing, you must also uninstall the app from Settings > Apps."

To fully stop billing, uninstall TrueProfit from your Shopify admin → Settings → Apps.

Why was I still charged even though I uninstalled?

Following shopify's Policy, uninstalling stops future billing cycles, but it doesn't remove a charge that has already been generated for your upcoming invoice. Because app charges are generated at the start of the 30-day cycle and only added to your Shopify invoice afterward, there's a window between the two.

If you uninstall after the charge has been generated but before the invoice is issued, the charge will still be displayed on that invoice.

In Shopify's words: "Uninstalling an app stops future billing cycles, but a pending charge that has already been generated might still be displayed on the next invoice."

Can a charge be cancelled or removed after it's been generated?

No. Once a charge has been added to your invoice, it follows Shopify's billing policy and can't be cancelled or removed: "Shopify can't remove or cancel a pending third-party app charge after it has been added to your upcoming invoice."

How do I avoid being charged for the next cycle?

Uninstall TrueProfit before your current cycle ends: from your Shopify admin → Settings → Apps. This stops all future charges. Just note that any charge already generated for the current cycle will still appear on your invoice.

Where can I see my billing dates?

You can view your billing cycle and app charges anytime in your Shopify admin under Settings → Billing.

What happens if I reinstall TrueProfit?

If you reinstall, you'll start a new subscription and go through the onboarding steps again. Your previous subscription does not resume.
