Connecting your PayPal account with TrueProfit helps you keep track of your transaction fee per order automatically. This makes it easy to monitor your true profits and optimize your business.

How to connect with PayPal

Before you start, make sure you are using the same PayPal email address as your Shopify store so the syncing works smoothly.

  1. Go to the main menu in TrueProfit, select Integrations > Payment Providers

  2. In the integrations list, find and select PayPal.

  3. Click Connect to begin linking your PayPal account.

  4. In the pop-up, enter your PayPal Client ID and Secret Key (see instructions below to get your ID and key).

5. Click Connect to complete the setup.

How to get client ID and secret key from your PayPal

  • Step 1:
    ​    Log in to your PayPal account. If you don’t have one, sign up and complete their onboarding process.

  • Step 2:

    Once you’re logged in, click code icon </> in the top right of the page to open the PayPal Developer Dashboard

  • Step 3: Click on "API & credentials" (in the live, not sandbox)

  • Step 4: Click "Create App" > Fill app name "TrueProfit"

  • Step 5: Scroll to the bottom, at the Features section. Enable the Transaction search to assist TrueProfit can get the data from Paypal directly

  • Step 6: Scroll back to the top, copy client ID and secret key, then paste them into the TrueProfit PayPal integration pop-up.

After connecting, TrueProfit will start syncing your PayPal transaction fee information and order data automatically.


Viewing Your Synced Data from PayPal

After a few minutes, you can check your synced PayPal transactions in the TrueProfit Orders Report. When orders match between PayPal and your store, you’ll see the PayPal icon displayed on your order report.

Disconnecting PayPal

To disconnect PayPal from TrueProfit:

  1. Click the Disconnect button next to PayPal on the Integrations page.

  2. In the confirmation pop-up, click Confirm.
